About From the Heart of Harrisburg

Who We Are, What We Believe and How We Believe It
From the Heart Church Ministries of Harrisburg is a non-denominational church that is part of From the Heart Church Ministries Worldwide; From the Heart began in 1981 as Full Gospel in Marlow Heights, Maryland with a call from God to late Dr. John A. Cherry (1940 – 2019) and his wife, Reverend Diana P. Cherry.  They established a church with a mission to build strong families through teaching the people to love God, hate sin and love to give.  On July 8, 1999, Full Gospel withdrew from its former denomination and From the Heart was established.  From the Heart is one church worldwide with a common Vision, Plan, and Motivation extracted from the Word of God, based on the Word of God and subject to the Word of God.

At present, there are From the Heart churches located in each region of the United States and around the world, on six different continents.  The current Episcopal Pastor, Bishop John A. Cherry, II is responsible for the spiritual, administrative, and financial oversight of From the Heart.

In January 2000, Ronald L. Young was a minister on staff at From The Heart Church Ministries® Parent Church. With the blessings of the late Founding Pastor, Dr. John A. Cherry, he relocated to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to start the Bread of Life Church Ministries. When the Episcopal Pastor began receiving other ministries into From the Heart Church Ministries® as Reformation churches, Pastor and Mrs. Young transitioned from the Bread of Life Church Ministries to From the Heart Church Ministries of Harrisburg in March 2003.

From the Heart  Church Ministries of Harrisburg is a lively and exciting church. On June 15, 2008 the Episcopal Pastor dedicated the new home of From the Heart Church Ministries of Harrisburg. The Harrisburg church is the first From the Heart Church that was organized into a full- service church, including purchasing its permanent church home, without any financial assistance from the Parent Church. From the Heart of Harrisburg hosted the October 2009 bi-annual Episcopal Council Meeting and From the Heart Pastors Conference. From the Heart of Harrisburg has experienced tremendous growth over the years. “After School” and “Summer Camp” programs are available to the Harrisburg members and the City of Harrisburg under the directorship of Reverend E. Sheila Young.

On Sunday, July 7, 2019 Pastor and Reverend Young retired from active ministry and Episcopal Pastor John A. Cherry, II installed Pastor Reginald Covington as the new Pastor.

Pastor and Mrs. Covington will build on the foundation that was laid and help prepare the church for the next move of God.

What We Believe and How We Believe it
We Believe
In the One, True, Living God who is infinite in all things. We believe He is Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent and that He manifests Himself in three persons. God the Father is our Source, God the Son is the way to the Source and the Holy Spirit is our Director, Guide, Enabler and Helper. We also believe that the Holy Spirit is equal in deity to the Father and the Son. We believe that through the infilling of the Holy Spirit we are empowered to disassemble those things in our lives that are contrary to the Word of God and to assemble those things necessary to cause us to be effective members of the Body of Christ.
We Believe
That in the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth and set into operation Seven Spiritual Principles© to govern His creation, and by following these principles, man would be able to take dominion over, subdue, and to replenish the Earth. Therefore, man is able to live a productive and fruitful life, add to the productivity of the lives of others, and leave a deposit in the Earth for the next generation.
We Believe
That the Bible is the inspired Word of God, written by Holy men of old as the Holy Spirit moved, and the entire Scripture – from Genesis to Malachi and Matthew to Revelation – contains all things necessary for our salvation, and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction and for instructions in righteousness.
We Believe
That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, that He was crucified, died and was buried and that on the third day He arose from the dead and that He is the Savior of the World. He is now seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty, making intercessions for us at the Throne of God. We believe that Jesus died to purchase the Church, He arose to give resurrected life to the Church, He ascended to be the Head of the Church, and He’s coming back again for His Church. He is the way, the truth, and the life and no man cometh unto the Father, but by Him.
We Believe
That salvation only comes by grace through faith in Jesus Christ by a confession with the mouth and a belief in the heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We do not believe that water baptism is unto salvation, but rather is an outer expression of an inner conviction and represents to us that inward purity which positions us to follow the example of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and that as He died and rose again for us, so should we, who are baptized, be baptized with the Holy Ghost and die to sin and rise again unto righteousness. Good works cannot bring about salvation, but are the fruits of and spring forth out of a true faith in God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
We Believe
That we should trust God, trust leadership and trust each other so that all who believe and are on one accord would network their resources together so that NONE SUFFER LACK.
We Believe
That the love of God, which is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost, is the foundation of all our actions, causes us to live by the requirements of our faith, and that LOVE NEVER FAILS.
But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
